Sammy Lee

My name is Sammy Lee. I was with Student Painters in 2019 and I ran a $82,000 painting business. In that experience, some of the skills that I developed were definitely leadership. Running a crew of five painters you have the opportunity to be in charge, but also learn what your leadership style is. You have that chance to provide jobs for people and give them the opportunity to have a successful painting business. To any student thinking about doing this opportunity, I can't even talk about the number of times that I’ve talked about Student Painters during interviews. It’s an experience that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life, I’ll probably talk about it until I'm 80 years old. It’s something that has created more opportunities for me, now that I have a full time position at Eli Lilly after I graduate. It’s been something that I talk about every chance that I get. Definitely take a risk, do something that puts you a little out of your comfort zone, and great things can happen.
